What Is A Yapp?

A Yapp refers to how much leather hangs over the cover of a Bible. A Yapp binding is a style of bookbinding where the leather cover extends beyond the edges of the pages and curves inward slightly. This design helps protect the pages from wear and tear. See below for the Yapp options.

Standard Yapp

A Standard Yapp is a small (3/8”) amount of leather that hangs over the text block. This is the normal choice for most Bibles that you see from standard publishers.

Semi-Yapp

A Semi Yapp is a medium amount of leather that hangs over the text block. A Semi Yapp provides the Bible’s pages with a little protection for scratches and marks. A Semi Yapp is a good choice if you want a little more page protection without the look of the Full Yapp.

Full Yapp

A Full Yapp is the largest measurement of leather that hangs over the text block. A Full Yapp fully covers the page edges, providing ample protection from scratches and marks. A Full Yapp is a distinct look that is popular amongst premium Bibles and Bible rebinders.
